Energy major China National Petroleum Corporation has begun the construction of production facilities at the Dina-2 gas field in the Tarim Basin of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) noted that the gas field is composed of two blocks, Dina-1 and Dina-2, with a cumulative proved gas-in-place volume of 175.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) and gas condensate reserves of 13.39 million tons. It is reportedly the largest gas condensate field ever discovered in China.

The construction project for the Dina-2 gas field is expected to be completed by June 2009, adding additional gas supplies to China’s strategic West-East gas pipeline. The gas field is expected to deliver 5bcm of natural gas and 560,000 tons of gas condensate annually.
