SaskPower and SaskEnergy have contracted Grid One Solutions for installation of approximately 500,000 Sensus smart meters and retrofit of 450,000 conventional gas meters.

Grid One is using Smart Grid Mobile technology to improve control over the program, and manage the mass meter deployment process and also support regulatory reporting.

The solution is helping Grid One in verification that smart meters and retrofits are correctly installed, and are capturing, validating and sharing data as defined, and also that, fundamentally, services are being delivered.

Clevest Sales VP Michael Silmont said the solution helps utilities and the deployment vendors optimize the quality and efficiency of their service delivery during AMI programs.

”It also improves the safety of both field workers and consumers, and empowers utilities with real-time, useful information to drive better consumer engagement,” Silmont added.

Grid One Solutions vice president David McGinley said the solution is helping the company to simplify and accelerate the deployment process for both utilities by eliminating errors and increasing productive time in the field.

”It’s eliminating the need for two handheld devices to manage meter work and perform diagnostics and it’s also easy to learn, both of which are helping to drive our daily order completion rates up,” McGinley added.
