Sino-Australian joint venture Clenergy International and China’s CGN Solar Energy have jointly signed an agreement with Binchuan County in Yunnan, to develop 118MW solar projects by the end of 2015.
Under the agreement, the companies will construct an 18MW plant in Jinniu Town and a 100MW facility in Daying Town and bring the first phases of the two projects into production in 2014.
The partners will invest CNY1.2bn ($194.8m) to establish a local company for the planning, construction, operation and other EPC services of the project.
Clenergy and CGN plan to tap the advantages of the county such as rich solar energy resources, long hours of sunshine, strong solar radiation and a flat topography, to implement their projects.
The Binchuan county government expects the projects to boost local employment, provide revenues and drive the development of local solar industry sectors including silicon materials, modules, and equipments.
Clenergy and CGN Solar Energy, in March this year, signed a deal for the development of a 300MW project in the city of Lijiang in Yunnan.
