Southern Water's Cleaner Seas for Sussex project has been awarded the Large Firm Category award for infrastructure projects in the annual Association of Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) awards.

The £300m project, which has installed an advanced wastewater treatment works at Peacehaven, was constructed by 4Delivery joint venture comprising Veolia Water, Costain and MWH.

Currently, the plant is involved in the wastewater management and is in final stage of its commissioning phase.

Commenting on the achievement, Costain Water Sector director Matt Crabtree said that the award won is a further recognition for the wastewater treatment project.

"The team behind Peacehaven can take great pride in what they’ve done," added Crabtree.

According to the company, the entries were judged on overall engineering excellence, taking into account factors such as innovation, originality and complexity.

ACE is a British business association in the field of consultancy and engineering. It has around 650 UK companies as members.
