Clean energy technology provider Clean Diesel Technologies and ferry operator Lake Champlain Transportation Company have announced the successful implementation of Clean Diesel's Platinum Plus fuel-borne catalyst in the latter's ferry fleet.
Clean Diesel said that the noticeable improvements in fuel consumption and clean operation provide evidence that its solutions can offer significant cost-saving and environmental performance benefits to the ferry and water transport industry, both in the US and worldwide.
According to Clean Diesel, carefully monitored testing over a period of six months showed a noticeable reduction in both fuel consumption and visible particulate emissions. Additionally, oil sample analyses conducted by the laboratories of Caterpillar and Mobil showed a reduction in soot levels in the oil, allowing for the possible extension of oil drain intervals.
