Work has begun on the Stung Atay hydro power plant in Cambodia and a related transmission development.

The US$190M project is expected to produce some 465GWh annually while the transmission network, being constructed at a cost of US$113M, will connect Phnom Penh, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat and Battambang.

China Yunnan Corp for International Techno-Economic Cooperation and Yunnan Southeast-Asia Economy and Technology Investment Industrial Co are to develop both projects on a build, operate and transfer basis, Chinese state media reports.
