Alstom has been awarded two contracts worth around US$63.7M to supply equipment for two hydro power plants in China.

The first order, placed by Guizhou Qianyuan Power Development Corporation, is for the supply of four 220MW Francis turbines and ring gates to the Dongqing hydro power station in the southwestern Guizhou province. The first unit is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2008.

With runner diameters of around 7.1m, these machines are among the biggest bulb units in China. Operation of the first unit is planned for 2008.

Alstom’s Unit in Tianjin, China, is responsible for the design, manufacture and delivery of all equipment as well as project management.

Alstom is presently executing another project for Guizhou Qianyuan Power Development Corporation, providing four 260MW generators and their auxiliaries to the Guangzhao hydro power plant, also in Guizhou province.
