Shanghai Security News reported that power output decrease has been escalating since March 2009. For the week ended April 19, 2009, daily average coal usage at power stations declined to 1.71 million tons, as against 1.78 million tons in the earlier week, and 1.98 million tons in the final week of February 2009.
In 2009, overall power output in China is likely to escalate 3% to 5%.
According to the China Electricity Council, electric power consumption by industries in first quarter of 2009 dropped 8.5% to 550.78 billion kWh.
Power output from plants linked to the nation’s key grids tumbled 3.3% on the year to 680.061 billion kWh.
