The report states that the investment in FGD represents a value based on international pricing of around 100 billion dollars. The FGD systems are priced 50% lower in China. This systems market represents potential for suppliers of mixers, alloy steel, valves, slurry pumps, ball mills, nozzles, fans, limestone and many other components and consumables.
At present, the total world FGD capacity is around 797,000MW, which represents the cumulative investment of the world over 1968 to 2009. The world has been adding 19,000MW per year of FGD capacity. China in the recent years has added around 70,000MW of FGD capacity, and in the coming eleven years, it is expected to add 32,000MW of FGD per year, which represents 75% of all the new FGD to be installed each year.
Presently, various Chinese companies are offering components for FGD systems. Currently, various Chinese companies are offering the large pumps and the smaller ones are offered by other companies.
Chinese FRP suppliers have joined forces with international companies to provide scrubber shells and stack liners of FRP. Currently, ceramic scrubber nozzles are available from multiple sources within China. Chinese system suppliers have joined forces with licensors from US, Europe and Japan.
FGD systems in China would use more of synthetics and less of alloy metals than European or US FGD systems.
