The Albanian government has approved a contract with a Chinese company to build the 2x80MW Bushat hydro power station in Albania.
The Albanian government tender panel concluded that the proposal to build the station by Hainan Science, Technology and Trade Company of China, required the lowest investment and had the most favourable loan terms. The Chinese company was successful in winning the contract through an international competitive bidding process, and it will provide a line of credit worth US$149.66M.
The Bushat hydro power station is located on the Drin river, below the Fjerze hydro station, which was also built by a Chinese company.
