Reuters reported that Chevron seeks to build three production lines at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project utilizing the same amount of time and work force instead of the originally planned two lines, in a bid to generate more revenue.
Chevron’s partners in the project are the energy giants ExxonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell. The partners have unanimously agreed to seek approval for the third line. The Australian government had earlier granted approval for the originally planned LNG facility.
The Gorgon facility will have a capacity of five million tones of LNG per year on each line and will be seeking to supply to the growing markets across Asia.
