The increase in income was also driven by the improved performances of the Bulgarian distribution companies and the acquisition of Romanian power distributor Electrica Oltenia, which was not a member of the group in the same period of 2005, the company said.
Net electricity demand in the Czech Republic grew during the period by 4.3%, driven by ongoing economic growth, the company said. Within retail consumption, householders increased their energy use by 7.1% as a decline in average temperatures pushed the heating season into June.
CEZ has also increased its electricity generating capacity in the last six months with the acquisition of Polish power plants ELCHO and Skawina. Group generation capacity increased 4.3% in H1 2006, to 13,132MW.
