UK-based oil and gas equipment maker Centrifuges Un-Limited has secured a contract to design and build a fuel treatment system of ATEX Zone 2 standard, and install an electrical control system for CNR International.

The systems will be used in decommissioning of the Murchison platform from 2014.

The contract, which will be executed in association with Wood Group, will provide clients of Centrifuges the option to upgrade existing equipment in line with industry safety standards, apart from offering reduced delivery times, management of changes, and technology.

Centrifuges managing director Jim Shiach said the contract was won against major original equipment manufacturer (OEM) competition.

"This strategy offers a new concept to the customer by removing the need for large sums of capital investment in new kit, and reduces carbon footprint by reusing existing gear," Shiach added.

Centrifuges is engaged in design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of fuel/oily water separators, mud coolers for high pressure high temperature (HPHT) fluid management and the Elvos slops treatment system.
