Brazilian power company Cemig is purchasing the 78MW Sa Carvalho power plant from Acesita for US$86M. Cemig, based in Minas Gerais state, has an installed capacity of 5893MW and will be constructing five power plants that will add a further 930MW to this capacity.

Among the five is the 360MW Irape power plant which will be jointly constructed with the Minas Gerais water utility Copasa, and a consortium led by Andrade Gutierrez. Other plants slated for construction are Aimores (330MW) which will be built with CVRD, and Porto Estrela (112MW) which will be built with CVRD and Coteminas. The Queimado plant (105 MW) will be jointly constructed with the Brasilia power company.
