Canadian Solar, a solar energy company, has secured a PV module supply contract from Argand Energy Solutions for its 2.3MW solar power project in Louisburg, NC in the US.

Under the terms of the agreement, Canadian Solar will supply 7,700 CS6X-300P PV modules for the ground-mounted, utility solar power system.

Canadian Solar chairman and CEO Dr. Shawn Qu said that the company was pleased to obtain the contract that would help the solar developer to extend the business in US market.

"Argand Energy Solutions, like Canadian Solar, has a fast growing presence in the solar power market, with a highly experienced team and commitment to excellence," added Qu.

Argand Energy and Horne Brothers Construction commenced the construction and the project is scheduled for system grid connection in August 2013.

Commenting on the project, Argand Energy Solutions president and CEO Erik Lensch said: "Argand is really excited to be starting construction on this project, especially in light of Governor McCrory’s declaration of June as Solar Energy Month in North Carolina.

"Additionally, the United States takes another step forward towards energy independence and the reduction in the use of carbon based fuels."
