Calpine Corporation has announced the promotion of Michael Rogers to senior vice president and president of power operations. He will report to Robert May, Calpine's chief executive officer.

Mr Rogers previously served as interim executive vice president of power operations for the past two months.

In his new role, Mr Rogers will oversee Calpine’s nearly 24,000MW operating portfolio of clean, efficient and reliable natural gas-fueled and renewable geothermal power plants. He also is responsible for Calpine’s engineering, construction, asset management and turbine maintenance activities.

Mr May said: I’m pleased to have Mike join Calpine’s senior management team. He is a true leader in power operations and will strengthen Calpine’s position as a national leader in renewable geothermal energy and clean, natural gas-fueled generation.
