The partners, including Papiertechnische Stiftung, German Paper Research Centre and Verein Deutscher Zementwerke, German Cement Works Association and two other paper and cement companies in Europe, will work with CalciTech to derive Synthetic Calcium Carbonate (SCC) and Sustainable Metakaolin (SMK) from recycling paper.
The use of SCC material by the paper mills, and SMK, which can be used as a substitute for clinker in cement factories, will enable both the industries to save money in waste disposal charges and taxes, while reducing their carbon footprint.
CalciTech expects to get the European government funding to support the project for the optimization of a paper recycling process that will benefit the environment by producing essential minerals for use in paper and cement industry.
