The company has signed an agreement to partner with the city of Sunnyvale, Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD), and Apple.
The project will provide over 157,000 gallons per day of recycled water to the new Apple 2 Campus in Cupertino, California.
Cal Water will deliver water utility services to the new Apple campus. New recycled water supplies are anticipated to start in the fall of 2016.
California Water Service Group president and chief executive officer Martin Kropelnicki said: "Given the seriousness of the current drought, we are particularly pleased to partner on this project that will enable us to provide recycled water to our valued customer, Apple, Inc."
Apple is planning to build the new headquarters on a 175-acre site located on the former HP campus and surrounded by I-280 to the south, Wolfe Road to the west, Homestead Road to the north and North Tantau Avenue to the east.
The 2.8 million ft² building will be situated near Apple’s existing headquarters and is expected to be completed by 2016.
Apple had unveiled the proposal to build the campus in 2006 and according to media reports the cost of the project has increased from $3bn to nearly $5bn since then.
