Black & Veatch of the US has announced that its global business activities will be restructured by market sector to better address opportunities in key growth areas worldwide. Under the restructuring plan, the company will establish individual market-based operating divisions within the energy, water and information sectors. The company’s activities were previously organised into four units; power, infrastructure, electrical and telecommunications and process.
Weir Pumps of the UK has started to install four submersible pumps at the Atlantic pond pumping station, which forms part of the Cork main drainage system in Ireland. The contract has been valued at £350,000.
Normandeau Associates has been recognised as a new sponsor of the Corporate Wetlands Partnership Programme in Massachusetts, US. The company will provide guidance and financial support to further the preservation and creation of wetlands. Normandeau Associates was involved in a similar scheme in Maine.
Finally, Geokon of the US has achieved ISO 9001 registration for its vibrating wire technology. The technology is used in instrumentation for monitoring the stability of dams, tunnels, foundations and bridges. Geokon’s instrumentation has been used on many large civil engineering projects throughout the world, including the Three Gorges project in China.
