More than 1300 people attended the International Society of Explosives Engineers’ (ISEE) 27th annual conference on explosives and blasting techniques in Florida, US. Nearly a third of the delegates were from outside the US and represented over 49 countries. ISEE will be sponsoring the 28th annual conference which will be held in Las Vegas, US on 10-13 February, 2002. The call for papers for this conference will be announced shortly.

ABB has given Greg Scheu the company’s highest e-business position, assigning him to the task of expanding and implementing a customer orientated e-business strategy in order to improve e-commerce. ABB already has around 30% of its standard products online and Sheu’s role will be to accelerate and grow the company’s internet presence and make it easier for customers to do business online.

The FLASK Group has appointed Ruth Allen as main board director and managing director of FLASK Consulting. The appointment was made as FLASK expands its coaching and recruitment sectors within the group. Anthony E Fiorato (pictured) has been elected to serve on the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) board of directors for a three-year term (2001-2003). ASTM is one of the world’s largest voluntary standards development organisations.
