Dubai-based Burj Power will build a 300MW coal fired power plant at Port Qasim in Karachi, Pakistan.

The company will construct the coal fired plant on a 140 acres site. The capacity of the plant is expected to be increased later to 600MW, The Business Recorder reported.

Port Qasim is managed by Port Qasim Authority (PQA), a semi-autonomous government body. The officials of PQA said the company is keen to co-develop the plant at the sea port.

Port Qasim Authority chairman Saeed Ahmed Khan was quoted by the publication as saying that Burj Power will contribute financially and bring its own human resource to develop and execute the project as per the policies of Private Power & Infrastructure Board.
