BME said the $90m biomass-fueled power generating project in San Diego,US is expected to divert about 182,000 tons of untreated urban wood waste from local landfills yearly.
The facility will help the local municipalities to meet the State of California mandated diversion requirements by maximizing the available volume in the existing landfills.
The project is expected to increase the property tax revenues in the City and State by nearly $750,000 yearly.
Upon completion, the facility will generate nearly $4m in sales tax for the City of San Diego’s general fund in the first year.
US-based BME provides biomass fueled, alternative energy producing facilities to urban areas throughout the country.
