The company will employ its Iron-Phosphate battery technology in the 12-metre long electric buses for the European market that do not contain heavy metals or toxic electrolytes.
The alliance will manufacture electric buses in Breznik, Bulgaria and expand its presence to the other countries in the region.
BYD Europe managing director Isbrand Ho said that the joint venture will also introduce other green products to the continent.
Bulmineral CEO Mihail Ivanov added, "We are proud that we are able to reach an agreement of collaboration with BYD, the worldwide leader in the manufacturing of batteries, electric cars, and electric buses.
"Today marks the beginning of a new stage in our activities by starting the manufacture and assembly of electric buses with BYD."
