The Comber wind project is located in the town of Lakeshore in Essex county, Ontario. The project is expected to have an installed capacity of 165MW and to produce approximately 500GWh of renewable energy annually.
The project, which is still subject to final contract execution and customary conditions, is expected to begin construction later this year with a planned commercial operation date in 2011.
Richard Legault, president and CEO of Brookfield Renewable Power, said: “We’re very pleased to have been offered this contract under Ontario’s progressive FIT Program and look forward to adding to Brookfield’s significant and growing wind portfolio in the province.”
Brookfield Renewable Power’s total portfolio includes about 165 generating facilities with approximately 4,100MW of capacity.
