The company is planning to spend around $100m, or approximately P4.5 billion to P5 billion for the projects, revealed Don Dia, treasurer of Bronzeoak Philippines, a joint venture between Zabaleta & Company and Bronzeoak of the UK. He added that the company will start the Tarlac plant in mid 2010. Both the power plants will be integrated to a 40-million-liter ethanol-processing plant.
According to him, the company aims to produce 110 million liters annually beyond 2011. The company has also initiated operations of its San Carlos Bioenergy (SCBI), which supplies ethanol to oil refiner, Petron.
Bronzeoak also owns a stake in SCBI. SCBI constructs, owns, and operates an integrated ethanol distillery and power cogeneration plant located in the San Carlos Agro-Industrial Economic Zone on the eastern coast of Negros Occidental.
The plant has the capacity to produce 30M liters of ethanol annually and total installed capacity of 8MW, out of which of 4 to 5MW is exported to grid and the remaining is used for its own requirement.
