The biomass plant will be built alongside the existing San Carlos Bioenergy ethanol facility in Negros Occidental.
Manila Standard Today cited Bronzeoak director Don Mario Dia as saying: "The board has approved SCBiopower, the structure is now complete."
Bronzeoak selected Wuxi Huahuang as engineering, procurement and construction and maintenance contractor for the project.
Scheduled to commence construction in April 2015, the facility will be generate electricity in the Visayas to meet an increasing demand for power while offering additional source of income to the local farming community.
Manila Standard Today? cited Bronzeoak Philippines president Jose Maria Zabaleta as saying earlier: "Bronzeoak Philippines has not only completed its equity for the San Carlos BioPower 18-MW plant but has also secured a development partner, Thomas Lloyd Investment Bank based in Zurich, Switzerland for two more power plants of the same size to complete a portfolio of three biomass powered 18-MW power plants utilizing agricultural residues and waste for clean energy."
"All plants will buy their fuel from Philippine farmers, so there should be an improvement of farmers’ income where they are located, leading to accelerated countryside development. The exact site for Negros has been chosen, subject to government approvals, but we are still searching for a strategic and available site in Tarlac."
