Medway Public Schools, Broadway Renewable Strategies, Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, and the US Government partnered on the project through the utilization of Governor Patrick’s Green Communities Act and the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Medway secured a $150,000 energy efficiency and conservation block grant to deploy solar panels, and the project required no upfront capital investment from the school district.
Broadway Renewable Strategies oversaw engineering, procurement, construction and financing for the installation.
The 386kW PV project, which will be owned and maintained by the company, is expected to provide an annual consumption offset/reduction of over 50%.
The electricity generated by the solar PV system will be sold to the School Department at a discounted cost, saving the school on its energy bills.
Broadway Renewable Strategies CEO Lawrence Hurwitz said the installation of these solar panels helped the company to provide the community with reduction in the middle school’s utility bills throughout the upcoming years.
