The southern state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is to develop a 150 MW wind project on the northern coastline.

The project using 75, 2 MW Enercon turbines will be owned by Spanish operator Enerfin Enervento.

The Brazilian National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) will finance some 69% of the project, estimated at Rl 670 million ($293 million). Meanwhile, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is lending $5.5 million for the development of a 49 MW wind farm in Rio Grande do Norte. The facility, located in Rio do Fogo municipality, is being developed by Enerbrasil.
