Brazil and Argentina have been discussing potential co-operation on the exploitation of hydro potential in the Uruguai river basin.
The initiative on further hydro power development on the border between the countries is part of a wider examination of energy interchange in the region, including thermal power capacity with Uruguay.
Brazil is also exploring wind power development, in particular with regard to how they may complement the grid and market supplies of hydro power and thermal projects.
