As a part of the facility development plans, the company is expected to construct an oil pipeline from the Western region to the Kumasi oil depot.
BOST corporate communications manager Nat Acheampong told Luv Biz Report that the studies for the pipeline project are in advanced stage.
"The pipeline from Western region to Kumasi will be on pilot basis and once that is successful, we’ll expand it across the region and across the country," Acheampong added.
BOST currently has an oil storage facility that holds 84 million barrels of petrol and diesel, serving the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and various parts of the Western region.
Last year, the China Development Bank (CDB) gave a $3bn loan to the Ghana government for the development of Western Corridor gas infrastructure development project, which includes an offshore gas pipeline, processing plant, NGLs processing retrofit and an oil terminal.
The loan consists of two tranches of $1.5bn each, which are repayable in 25 years with an eight year grace period.
Earlier in July 2013, CDB disbursed $188m as a part of the second tranche to Sinopec, which is building a gas processing plant in Atuabo in the Western region.
