The partners will design, fabricate, install and test the foundations.

Work on the project is scheduled to commence at the end of this year with plans to complete in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Located 130km north of Eemshaven, the wind farm will be developed with an investment of €1.9bn.

Featuring 67 Siemens’ wind turbines, the facility is expected to generate around 1.6TWh of energy, to serve around one million people.

Highland Group, Siemens Financial Services and Copenhagen Infrastructure (CIP) have arranged the finance for the project.

CIP senior partner Christina Sørensen said: "Veja Mate is a fully developed and procured offshore wind project, with a grid connection on the BorWin2 platform, which from 2017 will deliver stable returns for many years."
