Bord Gais has said that with a 10% saving on electricity rates, many Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) clubs could reduce energy costs at a time when floodlights and heating are most in use.
Nicky Doran, head of marketing at Bord Gais Energy Supply, said: “Over the last few months we have noticed an uptake in interest from sporting clubs concerned about the rising cost of energy and looking to achieve savings in their electricity spend. We are delighted to be promoting this initiative, aimed at 10% discount on electricity rates to GAA clubs across the country.”
In November 2008, Bord Gáis Energy Supply announced that it has signed an agreement to supply and provide electricity for Cisco’s new Research and Development site at Oranmore, Co. Galway. Under the agreement, the company would supply Cisco with up to 40% of the electricity for the Research and Development centre in Galway from renewable energy sources.
Bord Gáis Energy Supply is the retail and procurement arm of Bord Gáis Éireann and currently supplies natural gas to over 600,000 customers. The company also provides other energy related products and services such as appliance servicing and electricity for business customers.
