The 3.1 million gallon-per-year cellulosic ethanol facility will be delivered in a joint effort with MECS and Brinderson.

MECS will provide the front-end engineering, design package and expertise in the sulfuric acid industry, while, Brinderson will provide the detailed engineering and construction.

The agreement represents the release of Brinderson for final engineering and construction for BlueFire’s Lancaster facility. It complements the release of long-lead-time purchase orders necessary for the construction of the Lancaster facility.

The Lancaster biorefinery will be reportedly be the first commercial scale roll-out of BlueFire Ethanol’s proprietary concentrated acid hydrolysis process.
