Located in Demorestville and Odessa, Ontario, Canada, the plants purchased by BlackRock features 95,890 Canadian Solar CS6X modules and will generate enough electricity to power around 3,340 homes over their 20-year operational lifespan.

Canadian Solar is providing turnkey EPC services for the plants and will provide O&M services after completion.

Construction of the plants was commenced in the first quarter and third quarter of 2013 with commercial operations set for in the fourth quarter of 2013 and the second quarter of 2014, respectively.

The Canadian Solar modules being equipped at the plants are covered by a 10-year warranty on materials and workmanship, along with a 25-year linear power output performance guarantee, besides a product and performance warranty by a third-party insurance policy.

BlackRock managing director Jim Barry said that the company has invested in the Canadian solar energy sector by purchasing the Demorestville and Odessa projects.
