Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured four major contracts from various customers for the supply and installation of main plant equipment for thermal power projects. The projects, with a cumulative capacity of 3,250MW, are located in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
Cumulatively valued at around INR70 billion, the contracts have been placed on BHEL by NTPC, NLC Tamil Nadu Power (NTPL) and Mahagenco.
According to the company, NTPC has placed two contracts for steam generator and electrostatic precipitator (ESP) packages for the 2x500MW Vindhyachal super thermal power project (STPP) stage-IV in Madhya Pradesh and the 2x500MW Rihand STPP Stage-III in Uttar Pradesh. The orders envisage design, engineering, manufacture, supply and erection and commissioning of steam generators and ESPs along with associated auxiliaries.
NTPL has placed a contract for setting up of the 2x500MW Tuticorin TPP in Tamil Nadu. These units will add 24 million units per day to the grid on commissioning. BHEL’s scope of work in this contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the main plant package comprising turbine generators, steam generators with ESPs and associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides controls and instrumentation (C&I) and complete civil works.
The order from Mahagenco envisages setting up of the Parli TPP Stage-III (1x250MW) in Maharashtra, wherein BHEL’s scope of work involves design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the main plant package.
