Indian state-run power plant equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has announced it has won a US$15.33M order for hydro power generating equipment.

A Bhel statement issued in New Delhi on 14 October 2002 said it had received the order from the North East Electric Power (Neepco), a state-owned power utility in the remote northeastern part of the country.

Neepco has placed the order for their 60MW Turial hydroelectric project. The Japan Bank of International Cooperation funded project is expected to be completed by 2006, the statement said.

Bhel is 67.72% owned by the government.
