The order, valued at INR1.25bn ($20.8m), has been placed by Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL), and includes setting up of hydro generating sets and associated electro-mechanical works for the 120MW Vyasi HEP.
Located in Dehradun district, the Vyasi HEP is a run of the river scheme on the river Yamuna.
Under the project, water from the Vyasi reservoir will be diverted by building an 86m high dam through a 2.7km-long head race tunnel to the surface power house at Hathiari village.
The project consists of two hydro generating sets of 60MW each with vertical Francis turbines.
The scope of the BHEL’s contract comprises design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of hydro generating sets and associated electro mechanical works.
BHEL’s Bhopal unit will supply hydro generating sets, while the transformers and control & monitoring system will be supplied by the company’s Jhansi unit and Electronics Division, Bangalore.
The erection & commissioning of the equipment will be executed by BHEL’s Power Sector – Northern Region (PS-NR).
