Under the terms of the MoU, TS GENCO and BHEL will jointly establish news plants, with capacity about 6,000MW, in Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad with an investment of INR300bn ($4.87bn), reports Deccan Chronicle.

According to Press Trust of India, BHEL will serve as engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractor and will be responsible for setting up of 6,000MW of thermal power plant capacity in the region.
Currently, TS Genco has installed power generating capacity of about 4,364MW in both thermal and hydel.
BHEL had earlier implemented thermal power projects in Telangana at Bhupalapally, Singareni Colleries and Kothagudem.
The Telangana government intends to purchase 2,000MW of power to address the needs of the state and is also seeking bids for purchase of 2000MW on long term basis.
The government aims to become self sufficient in electricity in three years.
BHEL is the engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India and is one of the companies in the field of power plant equipment.
