Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured a US$55M order for the 600MW Kameng hydro project in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India.

The project is a run-of-river scheme, situated downstream of the confluence of the rivers Bichom and Kameng. North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has commissioned BHEL to undertake design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of electro-mechanical works for the project, which is scheduled for completion in 54 months. Equipment will include four 150MW Francis turbines with matching synchronous generators, microprocessor based controls and balance of plant and equipment.

The turbines, generators and main inlet valves for the project will be manufactured at BHEL’s Bhopal plant, while the controls will be manufactured at the company’s Electronics devision, Bangalore.
