The first 600MW unit of the project was successfully commissioned in May 2014.

Under the contract signed earlier, BHEL is responsible for designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers, along with associated auxiliaries and electrical.

BHEL will also provide controls and instrumentation (C&I) and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) for the project.

Currently, BHEL is also executing 3,970MW of thermal power projects, which include 2x800MW NTPC Darlipalli, 2x660MW OPGCL IB valley and 2x525MW Monnet Power Company, in addition to the JITPL project in Odisha.
