Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam (KBUNL), a joint venture of National Thermal Power (NTPC) and Bihar State Power Generation (BSPGC), manages the power unit.
For the Muzaffarpur project, Bhel was selected to design, engineer, manufacture, supply, erect and commission steam turbines, generators and boilers, and associated auxiliaries and electricals.
The company will also provide controls & instrumentation and electrostatic precipitators for the project.
The second 195MW unit at Muzaffarpur is planned to be commissioned during fiscal 2015-16.
Last month, Bhel commissioned a 660MW supercritical thermal unit at Barh in Bihar.
