The contract will be delivered for Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority, which will execute the project.

Bharat Heavy Electricals will manufacture, supply, erect and commission the electro-mechanical equipment which includes six Francis turbines and generators of 170MW each and associated equipment.

The company’s Electronic Division at Bangalore, India will manufacture and supply control system while turbines and generators will be manufactured by its facility in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan together set up the project, under the terms of a bilateral agreement.

Bharat Heavy Electricals is also executing the 1,200MW Punatsangchhu-I project and had delivered three hydro projects which amount for nearly 95% of the total power generating capacity in the country.
