Capable of transforming raw smart meter data into valuable business intelligence, the MeterSense is scheduled to be used by Benton PUD to provide customers with accurate usage information.
Additionally, the system’s web-based user interface can be easily accessed by Benton PUD employees to enable precise and efficient customer service, system planning, troubleshooting and analysis.
Benton PUD Information Services manager Chris Folta said the friendly interface, powerful VEE functionality and large library of in-depth reports of MeterSense made Harris a clear vendor of choice.
”It is a highly interoperable solution that will provide a holistic view of real time data by bringing together information from all utility enterprise operation systems such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), OMS (Outage Management Systems), and CIS (customer Information Systems),” Folta added.
The solution will also be utilized to provide customers with information through a customer web-portal, offer prepay options, and provide better outage management through integration with Benton’s existing OMS.
Harris Utilities SmartWorks executive vice-president Chris Lewis said, ”By using MeterSense’s intricate functions such as automation and analytics, Benton PUD will optimize their use of the MDM solution to better serve their customers.”
Benton PUD, which delivers electricity to approximately 50,000 customers, intends to go live with MeterSense in June 2014.
