One of the 115MW capacity turbines installed at Ethiopia’s Beles power project has begun generating power as part of a trial test at the 460MW hydro scheme, according to local media reports.
The project has four turbines, each with a capacity of 115MW. The remaining units are expected to be brought online within six weeks, helping to address power shortages within the country.
