A report published by Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted a Kremlin source as saying: Belarus is under the illusion that something can change in Gazprom’s position on the price of supplies to the country.
Gazprom has been raising the price of its gas exports to ex-Soviet countries and Belarus has not been an exception. The price of gas to Belarus has remained unchanged since 2004 and currently stands at $46.68 per 1,000 cubic meters. Russia is seeking to raise this to between $180-200.
Gazprom has offered to partially compensate for the price hikes if Belarus sells its main gas routes to Russia.
