In 2011, the company has already won environmental approval for the Etango project’s off-site infrastructure and still needs a mining licence for the project.
The latest approval comes after completion of the project’s definitive feasibility study and environmental and social impact assessment and associated environmental management plan in April.
Bannerman chief executive officer Len Jubber said receipt of the environmental approval is a key milestone for the Etango Uranium Project.
"Receipt of the environmental approval takes us one step closer to the substantial stakeholder benefits which will stem from development of this globally significant uranium project," Jubber added.
Bannerman’s 80%-owned Etango Project is located southwest of Rio Tinto’s Rössing uranium mine and to the west of Paladin Energy’s Langer-Heinrich mine.
Bannerman targets development of a large open pit uranium operation at the prospect.
