A senior official of the DPDC told the New Nation said “We have no option but to carry out seven to eight hours power cut due to short supply of electricity from PDB.”

According to DESCO sources, almost 400,000 consumers of DESCO experienced 10 hours to 14 hours power cut as the supply was insufficient by 250 MW on April 23, 2009.

The power development board has been providing 3,200 MW to 3,500 MW of power throughout Bangladesh as against the demand of 5,500 MW.
