“It will help reduce unloading time for a tanker to only two days while it now takes some 11 days,” said Bangladesh Petroleum’s General Manager, Rezaul Karim.
Currently, Bangladesh Petroleum uses smaller vessels to unload the cargo from oil tankers.
“The discharging process is cumbersome and also costly adding additional operational cost of some $5,000 a day for each import tanker,” said another official at Bangladesh Petroleum.
