Bangladesh has protested to India over plans to build a dam in northeastern Assam state.

Foreign Minister Morshed Khan told reporters yesterday that he was anxious that the dam’s reservoir would dry up the region’s Surma and Kushiara rivers.

Khan was quoted by the private UNB news agency as saying that Dhaka have sent a verbal note through the high commissioner in New Delhi to the Indian government, expressing concern and requesting discussions to resolve the problem.
