Bangladesh and Nepal have signed an agreement to develop two pumped storage projects with a combined capacity of 1600MW on the Sunkoshi River in Nepal.

Bangladesh and Nepal have signed an agreement to develop two pumped storage projects with a combined capacity of 1600MW on the Sunkoshi River in Nepal.

The 1110MW Sunkoshi II and 536MW Sunkoski III projects will be developed under the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal (BBIN) initiative. Electricity produced will be exported to Bangladesh via India through the BBIN economic corridor.

The feasibility studies for both projects will be carried out under the supervision of the Nepal Department of Electricity Development.
